Radiation On Campus, and Everywhere

Our AP Chemistry students recently got a lesson on all things radioactive from UC Berkeley’s RadWatch team. Students learned about and measured levels of radiation emitted from sources all around them (and including them!). Did you know that even bananas are radioactive? RadWatch’s mission is to provide online access to information on environmental radiation levels and to help demystify an often misunderstood subject. Pinewood School is home to one of eighteen radiation-measuring devices in North America through the RadWatch program, providing real-time data on radiation levels which are made available to the public and used for research.
