In February, we shared the story of our 2nd graders receiving letters in Spanish from their 7th-grade pen pals. Last week, those 2nd graders returned the favor by sending handwritten notes adorned with colorful illustrations. The students translated their letters from Spanish to English, eager to learn about the families, pets, hobbies, and interests of their new 2nd-grade friends. Our 2nd- and 7th-grade Spanish teachers collaborated on the pen pal project and look forward to continuing to create linguistic and communal connections as the students exchange letters throughout the remainder of the school year.
