This week, our junior class traveled to Salinas: Steinbeck country. Seeing the land, getting their hands dirty on a working farm, touring the National Steinbeck Center, and visiting Steinbeck’s family home provided the American Lit students deeper insight into the author and into their recent reading of his iconic novel, East of Eden.

— John Steinbeck, East of Eden
