Science, Amplified

The 🤜force🤛 is with us in the science classroom as our 3rd graders evidence cause and effect by creating their own unique chain reactions.

Exciting things are happening in our science classrooms this year as we welcome new-to-Pinewood teacher Mr. Bracho to Middle Campus and adopt the new NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards)-designed Amplify Science curriculum for grades 3-8. The mission of Amplify "is to help educators create the next generation of scientific innovators as well as citizens who are skeptical, curious, and evidence-based thinkers. Our pedagogy invites students to explore phenomena with the purpose of solving authentic problems." (Amplify)

Amplify Science was developed by the science education experts at UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science and the digital learning team at Amplify. Just like our new curriculum, Mr. Bracho also comes to us from the Lawrence Hall of Science, where he worked as Curriculum Developer and Public Education Specialist for the East Bay Academy for Young Scientists. Through this organization, Beto taught environmental science research to non-dominant youth of Oakland and Richmond. We are thrilled that he has joined our team of dynamic educators here at Pinewood.

Meet Mr. Bracho and explore Amplify Science!
