Bowling with Ozobots

As part of an ongoing integration of computer science and our math enrichment classes, Ms. Baily and Mr. Brusco use Ozobots and iPads to fully immerse our first graders in some hands-on applications of math, computer science, and robotics. In this activity, our students are using block-based programming to create a code sequence that will command their small robots to drive down a "bowling alley" and knock over as many pins as possible. Students need to adjust for distance, speed, and direction in order to accomplish the task and get a strike. Our first graders have been using these bots every month to expand their problem-solving skills and knowledge of computer science.
