Thank you for your interest in Pinewood School. Pinewood's application deadline passed on January 10th and we are no longer accepting any new applications for the 2024-25 school year.
Kindergarten
Dates + Deadlines
- Applications are due by January 10, 2024.
- Pinewood sibling applications (for kindergarten only) are due by December 15, 2023.
- One teacher recommendation is required by January 10, 2024.
- Admissions decision notifications are sent March 14, 2024.
Kindergarten Visit Day
- In-person kindergarten Visit Days will consist of play-based activities. Visits are held in groups of 8-10 students and will take 45 minutes. During Visit Days, parents will stay on campus for admissions information.
- The scheduling of your child's Visit Day is part of the application process. You can schedule your child's visit after you have completed the first three steps of the application. Parents will stay on campus for an admissions tour and Q&A session.
- All non-sibling kindergarten applicant visits will be in-person on February 3rd. These visits can be scheduled by the parent through the online application.
- All Pinewood siblings applying for kindergarten will visit between January 23rd-25th. Sibling visits will be scheduled by the admissions office.

- Your child must be five years old by September 1, 2024 to enter.
Grades 1-2
Pinewood will not be accepting applications for 2nd grade for the 2023-24 academic year. There is no waitlist.
1st-Grade Applicants

- Academic transcripts are due February 1, 2024.
- Admissions decision notifications are sent March 14, 2024.
1st-Grade Visit Day
- All 1st-grade applicants will visit Pinewood on February 8, 2024, from 4:00-5:00 pm. Students will be in a group classroom participating in phonetic awareness and math readiness activities.
Grades 3-5
Dates + Deadlines
- Applications are due by January 10, 2024.
- Two teacher recommendations are required by January 10, 2024.
- Academic transcripts are due February 1, 2024.
- Admissions decision notifications will be sent on March 14, 2024.
Testing
Pinewood will not require admissions testing for grades 3-5.
Grades 6, 7, and 9
Dates + Deadlines
- Applications are due by January 10, 2024.
- Two teacher recommendation forms are due January 10, 2024.
- Grade 6: One current teacher and one former teacher recommendation is required
- Grades 7 and 9: One Math and one English teacher recommendation is required from current teachers
- Academic transcripts due February 1, 2024.
- Admissions decision notifications will be sent on March 14, 2024.
Testing for Applicants to 6th Grade
- During their Visit Day, all applicants to grade 6 will complete a short writing sample and a math activity.
Testing for Applicants to 7th and 9th Grade
All applicants for grades 7 and 9 will be required to take a Math and English assessment on Saturday, February 3rd, at 9:00 am at Upper Campus. Registration for this assessment will be available in the portal.
6th-Grade Visit Day
For students applying to 6th grade
Visit Days will be held at Middle Campus from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm in groups of 8-10 applicant students. While on campus, our prospective 6th-grade visitors will enjoy student-centered activities, eat lunch with Pinewood students their age, and attend a fun-filled PE class designed to foster connection. While visiting students are engaged in their activities, parents will attend a campus tour from 10:30-11:15 am. Parents can schedule a Visit Day for their child in the application portal after completing the first two steps of our application. Visit Day is a required step for 6th-grade applicants.
Upper Campus Student Visit Days
For students applying to 7th and 9th grade
Visit Days are an opportunity for prospective students to attend one class, attend a student spirit assembly, participate in a Q&A with our ASB, and enjoy lunch with us. These are required for applicants to 7th and 9th grade. Parents can schedule a Visit Day for their child in the application portal after completing the first two steps of our application.

What are the admissions requirements for International Students?
It is unlikely that a non-native speaker will be admitted to Pinewood without having completed a minimum of 1 year at an English speaking school in the U.S. The admissions requirements are the same for domestic and International Students. The process includes: Math and English teacher recommendations, academic records, Duolingo scores, and student interview.
Duolingo Secondary School English Test
The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $49. This exam requires the use of a Google Chrome browser and a computer with a self-facing camera and microphone. The test includes a video interview, writing sample and proficiency score which are shared with Pinewood School. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session. Our strongest applicants score 115 or higher. Test scores must be shared with us by February 2, 2023.
