College Counseling
and Academic Advising

At the beginning of the year, we meet with students in a group setting to encourage deep engagement in Pinewood’s academic and extracurricular offerings, which is a critical part of preparing for college. 

In the spring, we provide advice to students as they consider their course requests for 10th grade and beyond.

At the beginning of the year, we meet with students in a group setting to encourage continued engagement in Pinewood’s academic and extracurricular offerings, which is a critical part of preparing for college.

Students take the PSAT to become familiar with the style of the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT.

In the spring, we provide individual academic advising meetings as students consider their course requests for 11th and 12th grade.

At the beginning of the year, we meet with students in a group setting to encourage continued engagement in Pinewood’s academic and extracurricular offerings and thoughtful transitions toward leadership on campus.

Students take the PSAT/NMSQT to become more familiar with the SAT and to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Our office offers workshops on various aspects of the college process, including researching colleges and building a college list, completing applications, writing essays, and being interviewed.

Students meet individually with their college counselor to discuss their interests and to map out a plan for college exploration and college admissions testing. We also provide academic advising as students consider their course requests for 12th grade.

We offer optional family (student + parent/caregiver) meetings in the spring to discuss the student’s college process

Students are randomly assigned to a college counselor who will remain their primary counselor through graduation.

We continue to provide in-person application workshops and asynchronous support throughout the college process on all aspects of the college process.

Students meet individually with their college counselor to review applications and essays, curate their college lists, and prepare for college interviews.

We provide support to students applying for need-based financial aid and/or merit scholarships. 

The Pinewood College Counseling Office hosts college admission representatives from around the country (and world), and student attendance is encouraged.

Pinewood offers the SAT to seniors in the fall.
