Our Teachers Are Subject Specialists

What's So Special About Pinewood

At Pinewood, children learn each subject from a teacher who specializes in that area. For example, math is taught by a dedicated math teacher, and language arts is taught by a teacher who focuses solely on language arts. The same goes for science, Spanish, visual arts, music, P.E., performing arts, and computer science & engineering. This means your child gets the benefit of learning from someone who truly knows and loves what they teach.

Our Students Have P.E. Every Day

What's So Special About Pinewood

Movement is key to helping children learn and shine. That’s why all our K-6 students have P.E. classes every day, in addition to their regular recess and outdoor time. Our P.E. program allows children to get active through play while also developing important skills like teamwork and cooperation. It’s a vital part of their day, setting them up to learn their best in and out of the classroom.

We Build Confidence Through the Arts

What's So Special About Pinewood

We believe in nurturing confidence and communication skills from a young age. That’s why every K-6 student takes part in a class play each year, a tradition rooted in our school’s history. These performances aren’t just about acting—they’re about helping your child grow into a confident communicator and a courageous leader. Through these experiences, our students learn to express themselves, work as a team, and step into the spotlight, preparing them to lead and shine both now and in the future.

Our 4th-6th Graders Can Play After-School Sports

What's So Special About Pinewood

We offer after-school sports for our 4th-6th graders, giving them the chance to build important skills and character through team play. Whether it’s learning to work together, handle competition, or stay committed, our sports programs are designed to help your child grow in ways that go beyond the classroom. It’s a great opportunity for them to stay active, make friends, and develop qualities like resilience and teamwork that will serve them well in all areas of life.

SEL is Part of Everything We Do

What's So Special About Pinewood

Social-emotional learning (SEL) isn’t just a trend at Pinewood—it’s been a core part of our approach for years. Long before SEL became a buzzword, we were dedicated to character development and nurturing healthy relationships among our students. SEL is intentionally woven into our curriculum and daily student experiences, helping your child develop the emotional intelligence and social skills they need to thrive both in school and in life.
