As Technology Curriculum Coordinator, Jonathan supports and expands the use of technology in Pinewood's classrooms through direct instruction and collaborative efforts with teachers and curriculum design that develops tech-based skills and content standards. Jonathan also leads our Middle Campus iMaginarium maker space, where he teaches coding and engineering to our Middle Campus students, as well as runs our after school Maker Clubs and Tech Challenge Teams. During the summer months, Jonathan serves as our Upper Campus Summer Principal. His fifteen years of experience as a tech-driven educator in many different grade levels and subject areas in Bay Area independent schools enables him to effectively work cross-functionally with teachers on all three campuses. During his career as an educator, he has taught social studies, science, language arts, math, and was a philosophy professor at San Jose State University (SJSU). Jonathan is deeply involved in community service and has served as a member of the Library, Culture, and Arts Commission as well as the county Elections Commission. Jonathan is also an elected official in Santa Clara County, serving as President of the Gavilan College Board of Trustees. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys cycling and martial arts. He has been training in Taekwondo since he was eleven-years-old and is a 4th Degree Black Belt and Master instructor. Jonathan holds the following degrees from: University of San Francisco - B.A., Politics and B.A., Philosophy; SJSU - M.A., Philosophy, Prof. Degree, Elementary Education, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Studies, and an Administrative Services Credential.
