A Place for Exploration

Dr. Lauer and our 4th-grade students hopped over to the Exploratorium in San Francisco this week for a day of hands-on discovery. The Exploratorium provides students with an experience that encompasses all aspects of STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Dr. Lauer holds a B.A. in biology from the University of Missouri and a PhD in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. While doing postdoctoral research at Stanford University, Dr. Lauer made the decision to leave research and enter the field of education. She has been a member of the Pinewood faculty for over thirty years. Pinewood gave her the opportunity to develop a science curriculum that would teach the essentials in science. Due to her background in research, Dr. Lauer believes in a hands-on approach to teaching science. Her primary goal is not only to teach the fundamentals of science, but to do it in an engaging and inspiring way.
