Teachers Become Spalding Certified

This month, twelve faculty members (including two teachers from Oakwood, our sister school) participated in a two-week intensive training in the Spalding Method with trainer Lisa Gebbia from Spalding Education International. The Spalding Method, utilized in our K-4 Language Arts program, is diagnostic in nature and integrates spelling, reading, and writing. The method focuses on the five critical components of reading, namely, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The two-week training provided an opportunity for participants from our Lower and Middle Campuses to collaborate and engage in discussion about the benefits of the program and to become certified Spalding teachers.
